  • I'll give an instance where a student contacted me, a sixth grade teacher, privately. On September 11, 2001, a female student wrote me an email, privately, panicked that she was going to be a victim of terrorism. She didn't want to die, but what happens if they come over here.

  • How funny all this is. I distinctly remember politicians on the right urging people to not participate in the census, as it was an invasion of privacy and part of big government. Now, when the numbers are in, complaints start about the count being too low. It just never ends.

  • Because of one teacher? Really? If a store gets robbed, are you going to stop grocery shopping? Will a death on a highway make you stop driving? You read about this one teacher because it's unusual. There are millions of great teachers working with children everyday.

  • I was going to say the say thing. I appreciate his honesty. I imagine it was a short trial, thus saving everyone a ton of money. He didn't beat around the bush. Now, if he puts his money where his mouth is, he'll forgo all appeals and we can wrap this up before baseball season starts.

  • I dropped most of my weight by getting rid of regular soft drinks. I switched to diet and it's kept about 20 pounds off. Diet drinks are an acquired taste, but many are fine. Iced tea with artificial sweetener or no sweetener also is fine. You don't have to make big changes.
